#1. Be Awesome
If you don’t know where you are going, it doesn’t matter your direction
In the Church of Awesome, your best self is your God. Your ability to become your best self is your spiritual work. So it makes sense that the most important commandment of the Church of Awesome is being awesome.
What does being awesome does it mean to you? What would your best self look like? How would you treat people? How would you show up in this world?
#2. Treat Yourself Awesome
It all starts with you.
Being awesome means that you treat yourself awesome. It is very important to treat yourself right. This means that you do self-care and reject being a martyr. Treating yourself awesome is the second commandment because it makes sure you take care of yourself. When you do, you can be there for others.
How do you treat yourself? What do you do for self-care? How do you allow other people to treat you? Who do you surround yourself with?
#3. Develop an Awesome Mindset
It all starts with the mind.
How you see the world is how you react to the world. How you react to the world is dependent on your thoughts and beliefs. Beliefs are just thoughts you think over and over again. Do everything it takes to get your mind right.
How do you talk to yourself? Do you beat yourself up? If you were to meet yourself, would you like yourself? What are you doing to create a better mindset every day?
#4. Treat Others Awesome
A rising tide raises all ships.
How you treat people is important. We are all in this together. You must live in integrity with yourself and your beliefs when you are with other people.
Do you lift people up or put them down? Are people energized or drained after hanging out with you?
#5. Be Friends with Failure
Life is just one failure after another until you wish Flanders is Dead – Homer Simpson
They say that the only absolutes in this world are death and taxes. Another absolute that will absolutely happen is that you are going to fail. That is a part of life. What matters is not that you failed. What matters is that you get back up.
How do you react to failure? Do you have a growth mindset or a set mindset? How long does it take you to get back up?
#6. Embrace Emotions
Emotions are the spice of life.
It is O.K. to be emotional. Emotions are what makes life worth living. However, you can get lost in emotions. You must get to a point where your emotions add to your life more than they distract from your life. However, that does not mean to shut them off. Ride the wave of emotion.
Do you cry? Do you cry all the time? How do emotions show up in your life? Do you hide from your emotions or do you get lost in them?
#7. Vulnerability Is STrength
There is nothing more strong than being vulnerable to others
Your ability to be vulnerable is your ability to connect with others. Not only that it is your ability to connect with life. This is your time to shine. Embrace your vulnerability. It is O.K. to ask for help.
Do you share yourself with others? Do you hold yourself back? What are your thoughts on being vulnerability? Do you ask for help?
#8. Give and Receive
It is just as good to give as it is to RECEIVE
They say it is better to give than receive, however, both are very important. When you do not allow yourself to receive, you are shutting yourself off to abundance and not allowing people to feel good for giving.
Do you give to others? Do you allow yourself to receive? When someone gives you a compliment, do you accept it or do you deflect it? Do you say “thank you”?
#9. Take Responsibility
“The price of greatness is responsibility.” Winston Churchill.
While it is true that outside forces do contribute to your life, if you are going to become your best self ever and increase your chance of success, you have to take 100% responsibility for your actions and your reactions.
Do you sit in the blame of others? How do you react when life gets you down? Do you curse the heavens in anger? What does taking responsibility mean to you?
#10. Life is Meant to Be Enjoyed
Let’s make this life fun for all!
Life is meant to be enjoyed. If you are not enjoying your life then you are not being awesome. If you are doing something that takes away joy from the world, then you are not being awesome. Joy is essential for awesome!
Do you celebrate your wins? What do you do enjoy your life? Do you rest by enjoying your life? How do you fill up your batteries? Do you allow yourself to be on vacation when you take vacations?
